10 years of Happiness

yes,10 years is long
10 years during which radiant smiles followed us like a bright shadow
10 years of early morning whining and trying our best not to come in the line of fire
10 years of hearing a cry sound like an ambulance siren only to realize you just wanted undivided attention
10 years of trying to win your heart with any foolish joke we can crack on you or with you
10 years of singing with you any sweet song that we ever loved
10 years of adding something more to your life each year, so you learn to rule the world in your own mystical ways
10 years of unearthing the magic behind anything beautiful
10 years of dreaming of making you a tennis player and realizing you are as interested in tennis as a roadrunner is in flying,
10 years of talking back and forth in endless banter, only to find you end as the eventual victor in nonsensical arguments
10 years of absorbing everything that you tried to say or mumble or beckon
10 years of saying we understand that you understand even though we did not always understand
no, 10 years is too short with a girl who dances like bhanupriya and sings like a koel bird and also does both at that same time,
10 years of sharing that are worth a hundred and have passed in the blink of an eye
in you we see us and we hope in us, you see yourself, at least the best parts
Forget the world if it does not treat you good,
always be kind and sooner than later good things and friends will come searching for you,
you are a wonder for us and we will always always love you,
real friends take time to happen but until then and ever after we are your real friends
10 years of love have passed between a father and a daughter, a mother and a daughter
and we look forward to many more of these splendid moments enjoyed in silly laughter
in short, its 10 years of happiness with a daughter as charming and talented as you are,
There’s no wishing now, its just looking forward to new smiles and new adventures in sweet anticipation…

Anvi 9th bday Poem
Cat(ch) me if you can
There is a new cat in the town,
And it just turned nine !
This cat is as stealthy and wily as a fox,
and wait till it surprises you like a jack-in-the-box !
It will cuddle you with endless love,
and keep you cozy with its soft and silky touch of a dove !
In the middle of the night,
it wakes up and silently sleeps by your side, so you dare not fright !
Stay away from it in the morning,
it may pounce you with its yawning cry and make you dance to its song !
But do watch it when it dances on its two sprightly legs,
its a sight to behold and you are transported into a state of trance !
Every day feels like a blessing in the company of this mushy cat,
and every moment is afresh with its myriad colors and sounds, making your heart hop, skip and jump !
Wishing this cat a cheerful, prank-full and prancing birthday,
and hoping that it keeps its spirit soaring,
turning every day into a spring-filled day !!!

Hello April 14th, you are no longer just another day in the calendar
whoever you are, you changed our lives forever
Before 2008 you were hanging on our walls with the same face and tenor
as the other dreary days of the month and the year
For the world outside you are the harbinger of spring season
but for us you ushered in a never-ending season called – ‘life’
you are that wish of life that we made and forgot
not knowing if this wish can ever come true
In 2008 and on this very day a bundle arrived at our home
and brought with it unbridled laughter and happiness into our lives
packaged with a note of caution, saying – handle this with care
as too much glee might make us the envy of the world
with every giggle, you crack us up
each time you dance, you make us jump up, up and up
every gesture that adorns your chirpy actions
seems to trigger in us a zillion cauldron of emotions
you ride high taking my last name to far and near
giving a dull and empty word like ‘bheemidi’ a new meaning and color
just as night does not know what to look for without the day in sight
I believe we are clueless and restless without your flair and flight.
